Social & Emotional Wellbeing Program
SAC’s Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) team forms strong relationships with local communities to create culturally safe environments for local Aboriginal people to gather and connect with each other, giving them the tools to identify risks and be involved in suicide prevention.

What we do
Since 2021, SAC’s culturally safe, community led approach to the program, has been critical to achieving progress against the key priority outcomes of the Great Southern Regional Aboriginal Suicide Prevention Plan.

Including:
-
Increased literacy surrounding mental health and wellbeing and suicide prevention
-
decreases stigma associated with mental health issues and suicide
-
increased ability to seek help for oneself or for someone else
-
increased coping skills and ability to manage difficult life experience
-
improved care and support for individuals in crisis; and improved care and support for those affected by suicide.

The Great Southern Regional Aboriginal Suicide Prevention Plan seeks to provide a roadmap to implement and evaluate evidence-informed suicide prevention and mental health promotion activities across the region to support improved mental health and community wellbeing.
