Southern Aboriginal Corporation
Child Safe Organisation
SAC recognises that child safety goes beyond policies, protocols and compliance activities. It is also about genuinely embedding a child safe culture where the best interests of children and young people come first.
Our Policy Statement
Our Child Safe Policy Statement has been created to show our cultural ways of working safely with children and young people, whilst incorporating robust policy and protocols to back up everything that we do. It represents the genuine and authentic approach that SAC dedicates to putting the best interests of children and young people first.
Our journey of child safe practices:
-
Respecting the rights of children and young people
-
Encouraging children and young people to have their say and ensuring they are informed
-
Our team are positive partners
-
Understanding that every journey is different
-
Modelling cultural integrity
-
Our organisation models trauma informed care and practice

Our Child Safe Framework
SAC is governed by its Child Safety Code of Conduct and has developed its own Child Safety Framework which uses the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and the Child Safe Organisations WA: Guidelines as a minimum benchmark of compliance.
The Child Safety Framework describes the standards that SAC has adopted to protect and empower children and young people, and includes an Action Plan which is the responsibility of the Executive Management team.
