SAC’s Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) team forms strong relationships with local communities to create culturally safe environments for local Aboriginal people to gather and connect with each other, giving them the tools to identify risks and be involved in suicide prevention.​

What we do
Through a cutlurally safe, community-led approach, our SEWB team works with local communities to: ​

Increase literacy surrounding mental health and wellbeing and suicide prevention
-
decrease stigma associated with mental health issues and suicide
-
increase ability to seek help for oneself or for someone else
-
increase coping skills and ability to manage difficult life experience
-
improved care and support for individuals in crisis
-
improve care and support for those affected by suicide.​​​

About the Great Southern Regional Aboriginal Suicide Prevention Plan
​
Since 2021, our program has been critical to achieving progress against the key priority outcomes of the Great Southern Regional Aboriginal Suicide Prevention Plan.
The Great Southern Regional Aboriginal Suicide Prevention Plan seeks to provide a roadmap to implement and evaluate evidence-informed suicide prevention and mental health promotion activities across the region to support improved mental health and community wellbeing.
