As part of our Noongar Cultural Framework Project (NCF), SAC are offering free Cultural Awareness Training for service providers supporting Noongar women and children accessing crisis support services.
This training will help to strengthen culturally responsive, culturally safe and trauma-informed practice across the sector.
Our team will host the following sessions:
Narrogin - Tuesday 24th March
Bunbury - Wednesday 25th March
Albany - April - Details to follow
Session content
This training will explore Noongar cultural perspectives, historical context, culturally appropriate communication, and practical strategies for embedding culturally responsive and trauma-informed approaches into everyday practice
Who is the training for?
This training is for staff working directly with women and children in crisis. Understanding culture is not an optional addition to service delivery, it is fundamental to ensuring safety, trust, dignity and effective support.
Noongar women and children who engage with crisis services often carry complex experiences shaped by intergenerational trauma, systemic disadvantage, and ongoing impacts of colonisation.
When staff are equipped with cultural knowledge and awareness, they are better positioned to:
Provide culturally safe and respectful responses
Build trust and meaningful engagement
Reduce the risk of re-traumatisation
Strengthen outcomes for families
Uphold accountability to community
Spaces are limited (max 3x attendees per organisation)
To register for a session, please contact Nicole: nicole@sacorp.com.au by COB Monday 16th March.
