SAC Hosts Dandjoo Koort – Homelessness Week Event in Albany

Today our Great Southern team partnered with Shelter WA, Lotterywest, and Anglicare WA to host an important Homelessness Week Event in Albany: Dandjoo Koort (Coming Together in Heart).
Funded by Shelter WA and Lotterywest, the public event supported Albany’s Aboriginal community and people experiencing, or at risk-of, homelessness in our city.
Visitors were greeted with welcomed community members with a Welcome to Country, free meals, and were able to connect with several other local support services. The day also included speeches that highlighted issues, causes and impacts of homelessness to the wider community to raise awareness, break stigmas and promote action.

Thanks to support from our funders, our staff were able to distribute culturally safe Prevention Packs designed to help prevent homelessness and provide life-saving information for individuals experiencing Family and Domestic Violence.
